2009 Recipients
The Jasper Community Arts Commission in its role as Regional Arts Partner to the Indiana Arts Commission announced in June 2008 the recipients of the Arts Grant Funding to Organizations through the Regional Arts Partnership for fiscal year 2009. Twelve grants were awarded to organizations from Region 11, comprised of 6 counties in Southern Indiana. (Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Martin, Orange and Perry Counties).The twelve awards will be used to fund a variety of arts activities in our area. The grants are made possible through the Regional Arts Partnership of the Indiana Arts Commission, the state arts agency for the state of Indiana, with assistance from the Indiana General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
An awards ceremony will be held this October, in the Krempp Gallery at the Jasper Arts Center to announce the awards and to celebrate the artistic endeavors of organizations around the region. Special guests invited to participate in the ceremony will include members from the organizations receiving funding for the coming year, members of the Indiana State Legislature representing the region, Jasper Community Arts Commission Board members, Indiana Arts Commission staff, individuals from the Region 11 Advisory Council, volunteers from Grant Review Panels and members of the general public interested in the arts in the region. The date and time for this ceremony will be posted in the near future.
Arts Organization Support Grantees
Actors Community Theatre, Inc. (Dubois) was awarded $3,623 for underwriting 3 theatrical productions for the coming season, which will include South Pacific, a winter traveling dinner theatre and a spring production to be announced.Strings, Inc. (Dubois) received a grant in the amount of $3,623 to support the entire year's program of violin instruction, performances and community education regarding stringed music.
Veale Creek Players (Daviess) will use their grant of $1,378 to assist in payment of stipend to artistic directors and musicians for the 4 productions in the 2008-2009 season.
Arts Project Support Grantees
First Chance Center (Orange) was awarded $1,785 in support of arts and cultural activities for persons with disabilities in the Orange County area.Orange County Community Development, Inc. (Orange) will utilize their grant award of $2,993 to help promote the events surrounding the Lawn Chair Music Series concerts in Paoli and French Lick.
Orange County Players (Orange) will use their grant award of $2,870 to support the expense of artistic directors, choreographers and coordinators of their summer musical, OKLAHOMA!.
Paoli Chamber of Commerce (Orange) will use their grant award of $2,300 to support the Lotus Dickey Hometown Music and Art Reunion.
Patoka Elementary School (Crawford) will use their award of $2,985 to support an artist in residence program in their schools, which includes special projects, field trips and guest artists focusing on various arts activities.
Perry Central Schools (Perry) will be awarded funding of $1,485 to cover expenses of a visiting artist to the school bringing instruction for students in the area of creative book bindings.
Tell City/Beautification (Perry) will be awarded funding of $2,776 to create a mural highlighting historical images as public art for their community.
Tell City Regional Arts Association (Perry) will be awarded funding of $2,852 to support the Music in the Park performances at the City Hall.
Tell City Schwiezer Fest (Perry) will be awarded funding of $2,409 to support the summer production of the musical 1776.
